Design Challenge:

- Create a landmark convention center for the country of Qatar

- Provide 1.5 million square feet of convention space

- Make a one-of-a-kind opera theater

- Tie the structure to a unique aspect of the country

- Promote inspiration to youth through design

Solution:

- Used Breakthrough design and construction techniques

- Maximized space with girder trusses and tuned mass dampers to reduce reverberation

- Wrapped opera theater with a leather wall and an LED interactive display

- The front structure mimics the Sidra tree, a international symbol of Qatar

- Projected light continually redefines QNCC's interior, creating an unforgettable experience.
